IP Themed Rides for Malls and Family Parks

A character on the front of a ride does something a price tag cannot: it makes children ask to go again. That is why IP themed rides have moved from theme parks into malls, resorts and family parks.

This page explains how character-themed attractions are planned, and what to decide before you order.

What an IP themed ride actually is

Three things change once a ride carries a character theme: the ride itself is standard, the decoration is bespoke, and the whole package has to be designed as one scene.

That means a themed train, a themed carousel, a themed track ride and the scenery around them are specified together, so a visitor walks into a place rather than past four separate rides.

Why malls and family parks buy IP themed rides

  • Children choose the destination. A familiar character turns a family decision into an easy one.
  • Photographs travel. Themed rides get shared, which is free advertising for the centre.
  • Repeat visits. Families come back to ride “the duck ride” again.
  • Dwell time. A themed area keeps people on site longer than a single ride does.

What to decide before you order

The theme, and who owns it

Most buyers either use their own brand mascot or a theme they have the right to use. Confirm the licence position for your market before the drawings start.

The mix of rides

A workable themed package usually combines one headline ride, two or three family rides and a small play or photo area. DINIS builds the three themes below as complete packages.

The land

Themed scenery takes room. Plan the area as a route with a beginning and an end rather than as separate ride plots.

The three themed ranges in the DINIS factory

Theme What it suits Typical package
LT DUCK themed rides Family parks, resorts, malls Trains, carousels and family attractions in the duck theme
Crazy Rabbit themed rides Indoor centres and family parks Trains, carousels, clock rides and themed furniture
Circus themed rides Outdoor parks and festivals Round trips, castles, flying carpets and family rides

Every model in these ranges is built on the same engineering as our standard rides, with the theme applied to the structure, the cars and the lighting.

How to price a themed package

Send us three things and we can quote properly: the theme, the site area, and the number of rides you want in the package. The decoration scope changes the price more than the ride hardware does, so the earlier the theme is fixed, the tighter the quotation.

Current themed models are listed on the IP themed rides category page.

Questions buyers ask about themed rides

Can we theme a ride we already own?

Sometimes, if the decoration can be rebuilt around the existing structure. Send photographs and the model details and we will tell you honestly.

How long does a themed package take?

Production is around 35 days for standard rides. Themed decoration adds lead time, and the scope is confirmed at order stage.

Do themed rides cost more to maintain?

The mechanical parts are the same as our standard models. The decoration needs cleaning and occasional repair, which is normal for any themed area.
