How Much Does a Roller Coaster Cost? Three Real Examples

Buyers ask how much does a roller coaster cost expecting one number. The useful answer is three numbers, because a park coaster and a family coaster are not the same purchase.

Here are the real starting prices from the DINIS range, followed by the six things that move them.

How much does a roller coaster cost in the DINIS range

Model Track Land needed Price from
180 m crazy mouse 180 m, 7 m high 17 x 28 m US$50,850
280 m crazy mouse 283 m, 8 m high 36 x 28 m US$84,800
Family coaster HXC266 266 m, 9.3 m high 90 x 40 m US$182,000

Those are factory prices. Freight, foundation and local works sit outside them, and they can add a noticeable share on a small coaster, because the steel base is a real construction job.

What changes the price of a roller coaster

Track length and height

Track is quoted by the metre and by the section. The 180 m mouse uses 180 m of track at 7 m high; the family coaster runs 266 m at 9.3 m, which needs more steel, more supports and a longer lift.

Number of cars or trains

The mouse coasters run four or five spinning cars. The family coaster carries 16 passengers in one train of four rows. More vehicles mean more wheels, more braking and more spares.

Power and control

The 180 m mouse is rated 10.5 kW with a 7.5 kW drive, so a normal park supply runs it. The family coaster needs 50 kW on 3N AC 380 V, which is a different electrical conversation.

Site works

Steel base, concrete, drainage and fencing are local costs. On a flat, dry plot they are modest; on a slope or over services, they can surprise you.

Freight

Plan three containers for the 180 m mouse and four for the 280 m version. Ask your forwarder early, because freight moves with fuel prices and port schedules.

Theming

Themed trains, colours and station styling are quoted per project. The shark and snake family coaster designs show what themed cars look like on this page.

What a coaster price does not include

  • International freight, insurance and customs
  • Foundation, steel base and drainage
  • Crane, rigging and the local installation crew
  • Power supply and local electrical work
  • Local inspection and certification

How to compare coaster quotes fairly

Line the offers up on seven points: track length, land required, riders per hour, power, vehicles, what is included, and delivery. A quote that cannot answer all seven is not comparable yet.

Two suppliers can be tens of thousands apart and both be right, because one is selling a 180 m circuit and the other is selling a bigger ride with more cars.

Questions buyers ask about coaster prices

Is a coaster cheaper than a drop tower?

At entry level, yes. A 180 m mouse coaster starts below the price of a 25 m rotating tower, and it needs less power.

Do prices include installation?

Installation guidance is included. Supervision and travel are confirmed separately, and the site work is done locally.

Can we add a second train later?

Sometimes, but the drive and control system have to be sized for it from the start. Tell us at enquiry stage.
