Is a 50m ferris wheel the right ride for your site?

Look closely at this wheel if you run a city park, a waterfront development, a resort or a shopping centre with a large outdoor plaza. It works as a paid ride on its own, and it works after dark, which is when many venues struggle to keep visitors on site.

It is probably the wrong choice if your plot is under about 1,200 m2, if your local height limit sits below 50 m, or if your visitors arrive in one short holiday peak. In those cases the 42 m wheel is the better first step.

What to check before you buy an observation wheel

Land and height approval

The wheel itself needs 35 x 32 m. Add space for the queue, the boarding platform and the access ring. Height approval is the first question to settle, so ask your local authority before you start comparing models.

Power and foundation

Rated power is 25 kW and the drive unit draws 18 kW. A normal park supply covers it, so you do not need a dedicated substation for the wheel alone. The machine sits on a levelled concrete foundation, and we issue the base loads and the bolt layout with the drawings.

Delivery and lifting

One wheel ships in 8 x 40HQ containers and weighs around 110 t. Plan container access to the site and a mobile crane for the main lifts. The lifting sequence travels with the delivery documents.

How many visitors can a 50m observation wheel serve?

Each turn carries 128 passengers in 32 pods. At a rim speed of 0.204 m/s one full revolution takes roughly 11 to 12 minutes, so with disciplined boarding you can expect around 500 to 650 riders an hour.

That long cycle works in your favour. Visitors stay on the wheel, take photos from the top, and come back with friends. Sell it as a separate ticket and it earns on its own.
