50m Grande Roue

A 50m ferris wheel is a landmark decision rather than a ride purchase. At 49.8 m it is visible across a district, it carries 128 passengers in 32 gousses, and it turns slowly enough that the view is the attraction.

It also arrives in eight containers and needs a 35 x 32 m intrigue. Both numbers belong in the decision, next to the price.

Land and height approval come first

A wheel this size is a structure, not a ride you place. Your authority will ask about height, wind load, foundation and the sightline from surrounding buildings, and those questions are easier to answer before the order than after it.

Eight containers and a crane week

The wheel is assembled on site from eight 40HQ containers. That means a crane on site for several days, a laydown area for the sections, and an access road that can take both the container trucks and the crane.

Projects that go wrong usually go wrong here: the foundation is ready, the containers arrive, and the crane cannot reach the base. Walk the route with the crane operator before you sign the shipping documents.

128 riders a turn: the ride is the view

Thirty-two pods with four seats each, a rated linear speed of 0.204 m/s and a full turn of about 11 à 12 minutes. This is a slow ride by design: passengers board, the wheel turns, and they watch the city or the park move below them. That makes it a different business from a thrill ride. You are selling time and a view, and the ticket price reflects the experience rather than the speed.

Night operation is half the business

Rated power is 25 kW avec un 18 kW entraînement, so running the wheel after dark costs very little more than running it by day. The lighting package is what turns the structure into an attraction at night.

Position the wheel where the lit rim is visible from a road or a promenade. Light that nobody can see from outside is decoration; light on a skyline is advertising.
