Buying notes for the Carousel Ride for Sale
Twelve models sit in this carousel ride for sale range, from a 16-seat ride that travels on a trailer to a 48-seat double decker. They cover the same question in different ways, so the fastest route is to decide the site, then the size, then the decoration.
If you are ready to buy a carousel ride for the first time, start with the comparison table below: it lists seats, platform diameter, height, drive and container loading for every model we build. If you already know the venue, the four cards after the table will take you straight to the right family.
Every price on this page is the factory band in US dollars for a carousel ride for sale direct from the manufacturer, and every unit is produced, painted and test run in our own plant before it ships. The build itself is photographed in how our carousel is produced.
How to choose the right carousel
Buyers usually arrive with one of four questions. Pick the one that matches your project.
Match the platform to the plot
A 16 to 26 seat ride fits a covered shopping centre or a family park. A large carousel of 36 seats and above, or a 2 story carousel of 38 or 48 seats, is what a park buys when the ride has to be seen from the gate.
Indoor, outdoor or on the road
A mall carousel is chosen around ceiling height and power. An outdoor carousel adds weather protection and a foundation. A fairground or carnival carousel is built for a fixed pitch or a traveling route.
Children, adults or families together
A kids carousel trades seat count for a tighter footprint. A carousel for adults needs wider horses that carry adult weight. An animal carousel sells the ride on its figure set.
What the electric carousel hides underneath
Lower drive, imitation top drive and upper drive carry the same horses at different prices, noise levels and service access. The buyer’s guide explains what each one changes on site.

Carousel sizes, seats and specifications
How big is the ride? The answer is the platform diameter, not the seat count: a 16-seat ride on a 6 m platform needs roughly a 6 x 6 m plot with room for boarding, while a 36-seat carousel on an 11 m platform takes a 13 m fenced footprint and a 10 m build height.
| Model family | Seats | Platform | Height | Drive | Shipping | Price band |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Folding portable carousel | 16 | 7.7 m footprint, folds to 2.65 x 3.9 m | 4.2 m, 3.9 m folded | 220 V, 4 kW drive + 3 kW lighting | Towable, one trailer | Quoted per project |
| Family and children’s carousel | 16 / 24 / 26 | 6 m, 8 m, 8.5 m | 5.5 m | 380 V, 5 to 10 kW | 1 x 20GP to 1 x 40HQ | US$12,400 – 45,000 |
| Carousel for adults | 24 – 36 | 8.5 m and 11 m | 5.5 m to 10 m | Lower, imitation or upper drive | 1 to 2 x 40HQ | US$45,000 – 66,800 |
| Indoor carousel | 16 | 6 m | 5.5 m | 380 V, 5 kW | 1 x 20GP, about 2,500 kg | US$12,400 – 33,250 |
| Outdoor merry go round | 16 | 6 m | 5.5 m | 380 V, 5 kW | 1 x 20GP, about 2,500 kg | From US$12,400 |
| Fairground carousel | 16 – 24 | 6 m to 8.5 m | 5.5 m | 380 V, 5 to 10 kW | 1 x 20GP to 1 x 40HQ | US$12,400 – 45,200 |
| Carnival carousel | 16 – 24 | 6 m and 8 m | 5.5 m | 380 V, 5 to 10 kW | 1 x 20GP or 1 x 40HQ | US$12,400 – 32,900 |
| amusement park carousel for sale | 16 – 36 | 6 m to 11 m | 5.5 m to 10 m | 380 V, 5 to 6 kW, 8 kW installed | 1 x 20GP to 2 x 40HQ | US$12,400 – 66,800 |
| Animal themed merry go round | 16 | 6 m | 5.5 m | 380 V, 5 kW | 1 x 20GP, about 2,500 kg | From US$12,400 |
| Large single deck carousel | 36 | 11 m, 13 m with fencing | 10 m | Upper drive, 6 kW with 8 kW installed | 2 x 40HQ | From US$66,800 |
| Double decker carousel | 38 / 48 | 7.4 m and 10 m slewing | 9.8 m and 11.5 m | 11 kW and 6 kW, upper drive | 2 to 3 x 40HQ | US$105,000 – 115,000 |
| Antique rides collection | 16 – 24 per unit | Carousel, ferris wheel and train sets | Quoted per model | Electric, 4 kW | Quoted per model | From US$11,000 |
Three things move as the platform grows: the queue and fence space, the foundation load, and the container count. A 24-seat carousel still ships in one 40HQ; anything from 36 seats up needs two, and a 48-seat double decker needs three. A mixed ride package for a park group in Colombia is one example of how the range is combined: the Colombian project notes list the rides and the budget.

Carousel drive systems: price, site fit and service access
The drive is the second major decision after the platform size. It changes the quotation, the amount of work below or above the platform, the noise at the ride and how easily the machine can be dismantled.
| Drive system | Price position | Best fit | What changes on site |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lower drive | Lowest | Traveling carnivals and sites that need simple dismantling | The mechanism sits below the platform. Ask for the service space and keep the lower area accessible. |
| Imitation top drive | Between lower and upper drive | Family parks, plazas and projects that want a cleaner appearance at a controlled cost | It combines the installation logic of a lower drive with a more finished upper presentation. |
| Upper drive | Highest of the three conventional options | Fixed parks and premium locations where noise and long service life matter | The mechanism sits above the platform. Steelwork and fabrication requirements are higher; access for inspection still has to be planned. |
The three buyer-facing drive systems are lower drive, imitation top drive and upper drive. A gear reducer is a mechanical component used inside a system, not a fourth selectable drive category.
Two quotations can show the same seat count and still use different drives. Before comparing price, ask which drive is included and read the adult-carousel guide to drive types and site fit.
Carousel or merry go round: the same ride, two names
Buyers ask us this every week. A merry go round for sale is the same ride as a carousel; both names describe the same machine. “Carousel” comes from the older European fairground tradition, and “merry go round” is the name that stuck in everyday English; at a British fair you will also hear it called a roundabout. The horses, the lifting motion and the turntable are identical.
In this catalogue the wording is used interchangeably. What changes between the twelve models is not what you call the ride but the seat count, the drive underneath, the figures on the platform and the way it is loaded into a container.
What a carousel ride for sale costs
The carousel price band below answers the main buying question: how much does a larger model add beyond the starting cost? These are factory bands in US dollars for the standard configuration of each model.
Four items decide where a carousel lands in that band: the drive system, the depth of decoration (ceiling, central pillar, cornice and pedestal), the figure set, and whether the fence and site works are quoted with the ride. The difference between a lower drive and an upper drive on the same platform is routinely more than US$10,000, so ask which drive each quotation includes before comparing two prices.
How to choose by budget
Use the starting price as a screening tool, not as the final delivered cost. The band below shows which models to compare first and which question should be answered before moving to the next size.
| Starting band | Models to compare first | Typical buying reason | Decision to confirm next |
|---|---|---|---|
| From US$12,400 | 16-seat family and children’s models, indoor platforms and standard outdoor models | A first ride, a compact indoor platform or a family-park installation | Finished height, available plot, target audience and daily operating hours |
| US$22,000–45,000 | 24-seat imitation or upper-drive models and the 26-seat themed platform | More capacity or a higher-specification finish at a family park or covered venue | Which drive is included, the decoration level and the fenced footprint |
| From US$66,800 | 36-seat luxury single-deck carousel | The ride should work as a landmark and carry a larger peak-hour queue | Foundation, installed power, lifting access and container plan |
| US$105,000–115,000 | 38-seat and 48-seat double-decker carousels | Limited ground area but a need for greater capacity and a stronger skyline | Clear height, upper-deck access, foundation loads and lifting plan |
Compare rider throughput before choosing a larger platform
Seat count is not hourly throughput
Hourly capacity depends on seats, boarding time, ride time, unloading and the share of seats actually occupied. Ask every quotation for a complete cycle time.
Use one comparison formula
Calculate riders per hour as seats × 60 ÷ cycle minutes × realistic utilisation. Compare every model with the same queue and occupancy assumptions.
Size the queue with the platform
A larger ride can still produce a poor guest flow if the entrance, exit and queue cross. Include fence lines and maintenance access in the plot drawing.
What the site must provide before a quotation
A platform drawing alone is not enough. The following points decide whether the lower-cost model is suitable or whether the site needs a different platform, drive or installation scope.
- Finished footprint: platform diameter plus fence, boarding, queue, operator and maintenance access.
- Height: finished ride height plus installation and lighting clearance. This is especially important for an indoor carousel.
- Ground and foundation: finished floor level, drainage, base details and load capacity.
- Power: voltage, phase, total connected power and distance to the control position.
- Delivery route: container unloading point, gate width, turning space and lifting access.
- Operation: target age groups, peak-hour queue, operating hours and local inspection requirements.
Outdoor projects should also use the outdoor carousel site checks for weather protection, fencing, drainage and seasonal operation.
From enquiry to container
- Send the site and the audience
Plot size or plan, indoor or outdoor, the visitors you expect and your opening date. A site photo or a drawing of the area is enough to start.
- Get the model, the drawing and a band
We come back with the platform that fits, the drive your site allows, a layout drawing and a price band rather than a single figure.
- Fix the decoration and the figures
Colours, ceiling, cornice, figures and the lighting package are agreed before production starts, so nothing is improvised in the paint shop.
- Production, test run and loading
About 35 days for a standard build. The carousel is assembled and test run in the plant, then packed against the loading list for the container.
A carousel manufacturer, not a trading desk
DINIS has been building amusement rides for more than twenty years, and the carousel range is produced in our own plant: steel fabrication and welding, sandblasting and multi-layer baked paint, in-house FRP figures, and a dedicated test field where each ride runs before it is loaded. Exports go to North America, South America, Central America, Africa, the Middle East and Europe.
Because the raw material is bought in our own market and the figures are moulded next to the welding shop, a buyer deals with the manufacturer rather than a trading desk. Ask for the test-run photographs of your own machine and you will get them; see the DINIS factory for how the plant is laid out.

Daily operation and maintenance
This ride is one of the least demanding machines on a site, which is why operators keep them for decades. The routine is short:
- Check the fastening nuts on the horse poles and the turntable before opening
- Look for deformation or cracks on the figures and the platform edge
- Listen to the motor and the gearbox at startup, and watch for abnormal smell or sound
- Check that the upper and lower parts of each horse pole move freely
- Keep the paint and the lighting clean; the colour sells the ride as much as the motion
Questions buyers ask
How much does a carousel cost?
A 16-seat themed ride starts at US$12,400 and a 36-seat luxury carousel runs to US$66,800; double deckers start at US$105,000. The drive and the decoration move the figure most.
How big is a carousel?
Between 6 m and 11 m across the platform, and 5.5 m to 11.5 m tall. A 36-seat carousel needs a 13 m fenced footprint.
What are carousel horses made of?
Glass-reinforced plastic over a steel frame, moulded and painted in our own plant. The pole and cage that carry the load are steel.
Do you build 2 story carousels?
Yes. The double decker range covers 38 and 48 seats across two decks, with upper-drive transmission.
Can adults ride the same carousel as children?
On adult-capable horses, yes: they carry roughly 130 to 150 kg each. Check the load figure with the quotation if grown-ups are part of your audience.
How long does production take?
About 35 days for a standard carousel, plus design and painting time when the figures or the decoration are customised.
Can I buy a carousel that moves between sites?
Yes. The folding model travels on one trailer, runs on 220 V and sets up on a flat floor.
What is included in the price, and what is not?
The ride, its standard configuration, the factory test run and the documentation are included. Freight, foundations, local power work and installation supervision are quoted separately.
Which carousel size should I choose for a shopping mall?
Start with the 16-seat, 6 m platform when the finished height and passenger flow fit. A 24 or 26-seat model can be appropriate, but first check finished ceiling height, columns, boarding space, noise and the delivery route.
What should I send before requesting a quotation?
Send a plot plan or dimensions, indoor or outdoor setting, finished floor and ceiling conditions, available voltage and power, target audience, peak queue and opening date. Add the preferred theme and any local inspection requirements.
What warranty and spare-part support is included?
Confirm the warranty period, wearing parts, spare-part list and shipping scope in the quotation. A 12-month warranty is the normal project term, but the final exclusions and support scope must match the selected model.
