Buying notes for the 54-Person Rail Train
Capacity per driver is the number that decides whether a sightseeing train makes money. This model moves 54 passengers with one person at the controls.
DINIS builds it as one locomotive and three roofed carriages, eighteen riders each, running on 600 mm gauge light rail.

Fifty-four passengers, one driver
Compare that with three separate vehicles and three drivers, plus three sets of fuel, tyres and maintenance.
On a fixed route with steady visitor flow, a single high-capacity train moves the most people per driver. That is the whole reason this model exists.
Roofed carriages: comfort is the product
Each carriage measures 4.05 x 1.5 x 1.9 m with a roof and open sides. Riders stay out of the sun and the rain while keeping the view.
That detail matters for group business. Tour operators ask about shade, seating and step height before they ask about speed.
What the route has to respect
Turning radius and gradient
Allow a 15 m minimum turning radius and keep the gradient at or below 3%. Steep ground belongs to a different ride, not to a sightseeing train.
Track
The train runs on 600 mm gauge, number 12 light rail with concrete sleepers. Track is quoted per metre, so the route sets that part of the budget.
Speed
Running speed is up to 7 km/h. This is a scenic ride, not transport between cities, and the slow speed is what makes the view sellable.
Station and dwell planning
Decide the number of stops first. Two or three stops usually raise passenger numbers more than a longer route with one station.
Then plan the dwell time at each stop — loading 54 riders takes a few minutes, and that must fit your interval between departures.
Battery and charging routine
The drive is a 72 V 250 Ah lithium battery pack. Charging at the depot overnight is enough for a normal day, and the battery has no exhaust, which suits parks with indoor sections or quiet zones.
Keep a charging position in the depot plan, and check the cable route before installation.
Buyer questions about the 54-person train
How many trips a day can one train make?
It comes down to your route length and your dwell time. Send us both and we will help with the schedule.
Can the carriages carry luggage or pushchairs?
Tell us what riders bring on board. The seating layout and the door positions are confirmed at specification stage.
Does it need a purpose-built depot?
A simple covered depot with a charging point is enough, sized for the locomotive, three carriages and the maintenance access.
Technical reference: 54 passengers / one locomotive and three roofed carriages of 18 / locomotive 5.2 x 1.5 x 2.23 m / carriage 4.05 x 1.5 x 1.9 m / 72 V 250 Ah lithium battery / 600 mm gauge light rail with concrete sleepers / 15 m turning radius / gradient up to 3% / speed up to 7 km/h / 18.8 m train length.
Need a bigger train? DINIS builds rail sightseeing trains to order with a capacity of up to 200 passengers. Send the route length, the station positions and the visitors you expect per hour, and we will come back with the train length, the track plan and the price band.
