Buying notes for the 54-Person Rail Train
Fifty-four passengers, one driver, three roofed carriages. The 54-person rail train is the point in the range where comfort starts to sell the ticket on its own.
It runs on 600 mm gauge light rail at up to 7 km / h, and it is built for scenic routes where the journey is the attraction rather than the transport. The reason the line needs gravel under the sleepers is explained in why track trains need gravel along the track.

Roofed carriages: comfort is the product
Each carriage seats 18 under a roof with open sides. That combination is deliberate: shade and rain cover for the passengers, and an unobstructed view for the camera.
On a 30 minute scenic loop the difference between an open carriage and a roofed one is the difference between a ride and an excursion. It also extends the operating season in hot and wet climates, which is where most of these trains are sold.
600 mm gauge: what it changes on site
The wider gauge carries the longer, heavier train and gives a steadier ride at 7 km / h. It also changes the civil work: un 600 mm line needs a wider formation than the 406 mm used on the 36-person train, and the curves are gentler.
The minimum turning radius is 15 m and the gradient limit is 3%. On a hilly site that is more forgiving than it sounds, but the 15 m radius is the figure to check against your tightest bend before the route is fixed.
Charging routine: 220 V, 16 UN
- Charge overnight from a standard socket
UN 220 V / 16 A supply with 4 à 6 mm2 copper cable is enough. No three-phase connection is needed for the battery version.
- Top up at midday on long schedules
Two 5 kW motors run from a 72 V 250 Ah lithium pack. If your day runs past eight hours, plan a midday top-up at the station.
- Check the pack temperature in summer
Charging in the shade and away from direct sun keeps the pack in its working range.
- Keep the charging point at the depot
One fixed point at the depot is easier to manage than sockets along the route, and it keeps the cable out of the visitor area.
Battery or diesel
Quiet routes and enclosed sites
72 V 250 Ah lithium with two 5 moteurs kW. No exhaust along the line, which is what zoos, gardens and indoor-adjacent routes need.
Long routes and remote sites
UN 20 kW generating set with two 2.2 moteurs kW. It removes the charging routine and suits routes where the train runs all day without returning to a depot.
Station and dwell planning
The train is 18.8 m long with the three carriages, and each extra carriage adds 4.55 m. That length decides your platform: a stop that boards 54 people needs a platform long enough for the whole train, not only the first carriage.
Two stops with short dwell times usually beat one long stop. Passengers board at the station they arrived at and leave at the one nearest their next attraction.
Prix
The indicative factory price starts at US$54,800. Piste, sleepers, platforms and the charging point are quoted against your route, and the diesel option is priced with the configuration.
For a longer train on the same principle, see the 120-train personne et le large rail sightseeing train.
Questions buyers ask about the 54-person train
How many trips a day can one train make?
On a 1 km loop at 7 km/h with two stops, plan six to eight trips an hour. Send us the route length and we will build the timetable with you.
How many staff does it need?
One driver, plus a platform attendant at each stop. The roofed carriages load from both sides, which shortens the dwell.
Can it climb a hill?
Jusqu'à 3% gradient. If your route is steeper, send the profile and we will look at the alignment before you order.
Is it suitable for rainy climates?
The roof keeps passengers dry, and the open sides keep the view. It is one of the reasons this model sells into tropical and coastal sites.
What is the lead time?
À propos 35 days in production, then shipping and track laying on site. Track works run in parallel with production.
Can we start with three carriages and add more?
Oui. Each extra carriage adds 4.55 m et 18 sièges. Plan the platform and the depot for the longer train now.
