Buying notes for the Antique Amusement Rides for Sale
Choose an antique-style ride by product
Antique describes a finish and design direction, not a fourth ride category. The mechanical and operating requirements still depend on whether the project needs a carousel, ferris wheel or train. Start with the product below, then choose the size, current safety configuration and vintage appearance.
Antique carousel
Compare 12- to 36-seat carousel models, upper/lower/imitation-upper drive configurations, figures, lighting and platform finish. The antique look is applied to a current carousel build.
Antique ferris wheel
Choose the wheel height, cabin capacity and lighting around the approved plot, foundation and visitor target. Vintage colour and lighting treatments do not replace current structural and electrical design.
Antique train
Select a track or trackless sightseeing train by route, passenger capacity and operating surface. Steam-style locomotive details, sound and lighting can be specified with the commercial train package.

If you need a modern ride rather than a vintage-style finish, use the relevant product link above. This page intentionally focuses on antique-style carousel, ferris wheel and train projects.
Antique amusement rides are a style rather than a date. The craftsmen we build for are not hunting for a century-old machine – they want a ride that looks like one, with current engineering underneath, a service life measured in years and spare parts that still exist in five years’ time.
That is what this page covers: the antique carousel and how a vintage finish is specified, the wheels and trains that share the same visual language, and what changes in the project when the finish is hand-worked rather than standard.
Antique amusement rides: buying a style, not a date
Three things separate a vintage build from a standard one, and none of them is the frame.
Hand-worked, not printed
Mouldings, cornice and centre pillar are finished by hand in the period palette, which is the part that takes the extra production time.
An aged palette
Deep browns, creams and aged gold rather than the bright colours of a modern ride, matched across every ride in the set.
Spares that still match
Decorative mouldings, lamp housings and figure sets are listed with the order so a replacement years later matches the original finish.
Current drive, current documents
The selected drive configuration, 380 V three-phase and the same inspection records as every other build. The style changes; the engineering does not.
The antique carousel: vintage finish on a current build
The carousel takes a vintage finish in any of the larger platforms, so the style is not tied to one size.
36-seat luxury carousel, vintage finish
38-seat double decker, vintage finish
48-seat double decker, vintage finish
The 36-seat luxury carousel in a vintage finish is the build most parks order: an 11 m platform inside a 13 m fenced circle, 10 m tall, rotating at 5 rpm with a 130 mm horse lifting stroke. The two-level 38 and 48-seat rides take the same treatment when the vintage carousel is meant to be the landmark of the ground. We also build a 24-seat lower-drive carousel in the period style with war-horse figures, which suits a heritage site where the ride sits close to its visitors. The big merry go round page compares the single-deck platforms above this size, and the carousel range puts every platform in one list.

Designing a vintage ride: paint, wood and lamps
The vintage look is a set of decisions made at the drawing stage, and they are expensive to add later.
The design direction comes from the steam age. We study period locomotives and fairground equipment, then translate that library of shapes into the canopy, cornice and centre pillar of the carousel: ornate mouldings, floral patterns painted on the centre column, and a palette in deep browns, creams and aged gold rather than the bright colours of a modern ride.
The floor is the second decision. A 10 mm anti-corrosion wood floor suits a vintage build and reads correctly under the figures; a 1.5 mm aluminium checkered plate floor is the better choice for a classic or animal theme that will see heavier foot traffic. Both are quoted with the ride.
The third is the lighting. Period-style lamp housings with modern lamps inside, wired into the canopy rather than clipped on, keep the ride looking right at night while staying serviceable. The drive and the electrical package are current regardless of the finish: the selected upper, lower or imitation-upper carousel drive, 380 V three-phase, and the same inspection documents as every other build.
An antique ride set: carousel, ferris wheel and train
Vintage styling works best as a set, because three rides sharing one visual language turn a corner of a park into a place rather than three separate attractions.
The antique carousel
From the 36-seat single deck to the 48-seat two-level build, finished in the period style with a wood or checkered plate floor.
The observation wheel
From US$98,800 for the 30 m direction, up to the 120 m build. The wheel is usually the landmark of the same vintage zone.
The vintage train
16 to 24 riders on a steam-locomotive styled body, 4 kW on batteries, one 20GP container and about 2,000 kg of shipping weight.
The trains carry the same direction further. The antique train seats 16 to 24 riders, runs on a 4 kW battery set and ships in one 20GP container at about 2,000 kg, with a body styled on a steam locomotive. Where the ground plan suits track, the rail versions use an eight-shape, circular or elliptical layout with the track length set to your site, and the rail is quoted by the metre on top of the ride. The 36-person rail train and the large wheeled train are the larger directions if the vintage train is meant to move crowds rather than decorate a zone. The ferris wheel direction runs from the 30 m wheel up to the 120 m build, with the lighting package quoted alongside.
What a vintage build changes in the project
Four practical differences to plan for, and none of them is a compromise on the engineering.
- Production runs longer, because the finish is hand-worked. The date is confirmed in writing with the quotation rather than assumed
- Spares are part of the order: decorative mouldings, lamp housings and figure sets are listed so a replacement matches the original finish
- Maintenance is a touch-up routine rather than a repaint. Keep the paint codes from the handover documents and the finish stays consistent
- The documents do not change with the style: the frame and drive inspection records, the manual and the spare list are issued exactly as they are on a standard build
